GT Task Handling
SOP-001
Purpose
This Standard Operating Procedure establishes the workflow for handling Ground Truth (GT) annotation tasks from assignment through submission and review. It ensures consistent quality and traceability across all GT work.
Scope
This procedure applies to all annotators working on Ground Truth tasks, including:
- Synapse identification and annotation
- Vesicle tracing
- Segment proofreading
- Quality assurance reviews
Procedure
1. Task Assignment
- Check the task queue in WebKnossos for assigned tasks
- Review task description and requirements before starting
- Confirm you have access to all required datasets
- Note any special instructions or priority flags
2. Task Execution
- Open the task in WebKnossos with correct viewport settings
- Follow the specific annotation protocol for the task type:
- Synapses: See GT Checklist (SOP-003)
- Verification: See GT Verification (SOP-002)
- Save work frequently (Ctrl+S)
- Document any ambiguous cases or questions in task notes
3. Quality Check
- Complete the pre-submission checklist before marking task complete
- Review all annotations for completeness
- Verify naming conventions are followed
- Check for any missed structures in assigned volume
4. Submission
- Mark task as "Complete" in WebKnossos
- Add summary notes describing work completed
- Flag any issues requiring reviewer attention
- Notify team lead if task required significant deviations from protocol
